Surfing in Japan is quite prolific as a country surrounded by water and that being said, the islands are almost always graced with great waters and waves all year round which makes it the most optimal place to try out surfing. Regardless if you’re a beginner or a seasoned expert, there’s always a bit of something when it comes to Surfing in Japan.

As most people arrive in Tokyo and don’t want to stray too far, the best and nearest place to catch a wave is around the Kanto Area which features Chiba as the main event and Shonan which is a smaller and less populated area South of Chiba, both roughly an hour away from Tokyo.

If you’ve a bit of time on your hands and willing to go outside Tokyo for more of an adventure, you can head over to Okinawa and its pristine islands. This clump of tropical islands with its lovely beaches and sub-tropical climates make it the perfect surfer’s getaway as Okinawa allows you to surf All year long regardless of the season. Though it is suggested to make a bit of an itinerary before visiting Okinawa as it does receive its fair share of storms, aside from the sharp corals, making it a bit cautious for beginners.

Surfing in Japan is a great way to experience the beaches and its tropical weather. For surfers, Surfing in Japan is nothing but a dream come true, and its recommended for experienced surfers to come around the isles to have a gander at the lush waves which never fail to amaze everyone both old and new to Surfing in Japan.
